Overview

Le Rouge et le Verre, nestled discreetly at 28 Rue de Turin in Paris’ 8th arrondissement, offers an intimate sanctuary for wine lovers and gourmands alike. This charming restaurant and wine bar excels in pairing carefully selected wines with memorable dishes, creating a seamless blend of flavor and atmosphere that feels both authentic and inviting.

The heart of the experience here lies in the superb wine selection. Whether you are a casual sipper or a devoted connoisseur, the extensive and accessible wine list caters to every palate and budget, a fact confirmed by many patrons who praise the thoughtful and knowledgeable recommendations offered by the owner. The ability to savor quality wines by the glass at retail prices is a rare delight, adding to the overall appeal.

On the food side, Le Rouge et le Verre champions traditional French and European flavors with dishes like Côte de Boeuf, Quiche Lorraine served with a crisp green salad, and delicate preparations such as Saumon Gravlax and Tartar à l’Italienne. The menu is thoughtfully composed to complement the wine selections, emphasizing freshness and authenticity without unnecessary complexity. Notable highlights such as the Baba Au Rhum and brioche perdue spark particular enthusiasm, embodying the restaurant’s attention to detail and passion for quality.

The setting is quietly elegant and intimate, situated on a peaceful street just steps away from the bustle of Place de Clichy. This location strikes a perfect balance—it’s close enough to Parisian vibrancy, yet shielded enough to offer a calm space where conversation flows easily. The warm, homey decor, complete with a welcoming fireplace, invites guests to linger and savor their evening in comfort.

Le Rouge et le Verre is well-suited for those who appreciate a relaxed dining experience focused on genuine flavors and expert wine pairing. Its size demands reservations, but the personal attention and friendly, unpretentious service make every visit feel special. The owner’s English fluency and deep knowledge enrich the experience, creating a bridge between tradition and accessibility.

In essence, Le Rouge et le Verre is a hidden Parisian gem designed for wine enthusiasts, couples seeking a cozy night out, and anyone eager to experience authentic French dishes elevated by expert wine curation. This is not just a meal but a thoughtful journey through French culinary and viticultural heritage, all within an intimate, inviting setting that encourages you to relax, savor, and return.

The missing Google category is wine:5 star! This wine bar/restaurant is a wonderful place: excellent wine, good food, friendly, knowledgeable owner. Situated on a quiet side street, you can actually have a clear conversation with your party in spite of being 50 meters from Place de Clichy! We found our meal good , authentic and of course, the wine recommendation per course, on the spot. The owner speaks English and is friendly and can convey his extensive knowledge without being condescending! You can see from the pictures that all wines are accessible for every price category . This is my wholehearted recommendation for every friend and family member visiting Paris.

Great simple fresh and traditional French food. Large choice of wines (of course) and great friendly service. Two course dinner is 26€. Wine by the glass are super cheap! You pay retail price not restaurant price. Really worth it

One of the best meals I’ve had in Paris. The brioche perdue was perfection. The service was friendly and warm, and we were suggested the perfect wine at a very reasonable price. The fireplace is a great touch too. Will definitely be back

If I could give 5.5 I would! What a dazzling gem! But at first, you may not be attended to right away (as long as you have time to sit and relax properly this is the place to be) which should be the mindset for all great meals. I would also encourage you to let the owner guide you through your dining experience. His recommendations are helpful. Besides the incredible food and drink the decor is so homey and complete. I wish I had more time to visit again - and AGAIN !

One of those rare, rare finds as you peer into the window of the Thai restaurant you booked and turned around to see this place! The waiter emptied the bottle into our glasses and smiled at our sparkling eyes.
